No te puedes bailar? OK. Ni modo.

I went Salsa dancing last Saturday at The Rouge, or rather, tried to. It's not that I haven't been exposed to it, I have, but I am just never able to get over the spinning part (and well, okay, all the rest of it). Fortunately, I had a great teacher - an acquaintance who works in Moncton, but is originally from Costa Rica - he was great! I drank way too much so the dance lessons kind of deteriorated as the night wore on - to the point where we decided that Merengue might be easier for me to learn, *sigh* not so ... I felt like I was marching over and over on a circle the size of a bucket. Anyway, it was super stormy, cold and the day after New Year's Eve, so I was rather pleased with the eight person turn-out at the club. I heard also through the Latino grapevine (I was eavesdropping on their table conversation) that there are quite a few Spanish speakers here in Moncton - like 80 residents! This may not seem like a big number up here in Lobster Country, but I was very happy to learn that there are over 5 persons in Moncton from Latin America. DJ Ricky, the event organizer and Salsa teacher extraordinaire has, I am told, going to have "Latino Nights" at The Rouge every Saturday between 7 and 10 pm.

All I can say is "Que Maravilloso!
